Kitchen Ideas

Demo on the back of the house is now complete and ready for the leveling phase next week.  Exciting phase?  Not really, but a very important step toward the exciting choices to be made in a home renovation--counter tops, paint and other selections.

Looks we love:
white subway tile with dark grout.  Am I the only one who hates how dirty grout can get?

Bungalow Renovation

July starts the beginning of our home renovation.  We are beyond excited to get this process started!  After a year and a half of interviewing builders and architects, working with our architect on plans and waiting for our builder's availability, we are finally ready.  With a total of two bedrooms and one bathroom, this little family definitely ran out of room.

Since our home was built in 1929, we expected to discover interesting finds behind the sheetrock:

Not so gorgeous wallpaper

and two different layers of linoleum over the beautiful hardwood floors in the kitchen.

It's amazing what a difference one week makes.

Can't wait to see what progress is made this week!

Babies and such...

16 weeks.  Oh, my love!

My Mini Me!

Having just waved goodbye to my maternity leave short term disability leave (who ever decided to lump maternity leave into "disability leave" is an idiot) and begrudgingly returned to work, I stumble across this article.  http://www.slate.com/articles/technology/technology/2013/01/google_people_operations_the_secrets_of_the_world_s_most_scientific_human.html  Now this doesn't compare to what new mothers in Sweden receive (16 months of paid leave) but I don't live in Sweden.  Thank you Google for caring about mothers (and the ability to pay their bills while on leave) and the early months of motherhood.  I could definitely use a few extra months at home with this sweet face.

Have a great weekend!

Giving Thanks

We definitely have a lot to be thankful for in 2012.  Thanksgiving week was wonderful!  I couldn't ask for a more enjoyable week spending time with ALL of our family and wonderful friends.

This picture cracks me up!  Waiting to meet the girls from Hallettsville.

Gentry's beautiful baby quilt Aunt Madelon and Mamaw made.  We chose the fabric back in May so I was so excited to see the finished product.

The polka dot print is the fabric on the back.

My favorite patterns.

The quilt looks SO perfect in her room!
